The Office of Fraud Detection and National Security (FDNS) of the US Citizenship and immigration Services’ (USCIS) is conducting thousands of on-site visits to employers sponsoring foreign national employees under the H-1B program.
Generally, these visits are focused on approved H-1B petitions and, more likely than not no advance notice of the visit will be provided to you. The FDNS investigators will verify the information you submitted in the petitions, and will also check whether or not foreign national employees are complying with the terms of their admission to the United States.
At Texas A&M University, the Director of the International Faculty & Scholar Services Office (IFSS) and his designees are the designated primary and secondary contacts for immigration employment purposes in order to deal with FDNS agents inquiries. Accordingly, if a FDNS agent shows-up at your department or unit make sure you follow the following protocol:
• Personnel responsible for greeting visitors should know to direct the FDNS agent to us. IFSS is the office responsible for immigration employment matters at Texas A&M University. IFSS should be contacted immediately at 862-1719. (Each Texas A&M University System member has a designated office responsible for immigration employment matters)
• Explain that you are contacting the IFSS and ask the FDNS agent to wait in the reception area until the IFSS personnel arrives at your location.
